Story line / Background Information
Despite a string of tactical setbacks, the People’s Republic of Newfoundland (PRN) has pressed forward with its most ambitious and dangerous program to date: the covert development of the nerve toxin project known as SERPENTIS. Building on the foundations of earlier bioweapon experiments, PRN scientists have refined the formula into a highly adaptive compound, designed not only to incapacitate but to linger in the environment as a persistent threat.
Unexpectedly, field trials revealed that certain local populations exhibited partial immunities to the agent, resistance traced back to long-term environmental exposure to the core components used in its creation. Local scientists managed to develop a rudimentary vaccine, but limited production facilities and supply chain bottlenecks have delayed mass distribution, leaving both troops and civilians vulnerable.
After failing to secure this prototype vaccine from the villagers at Robin Sage, the Alliance of Confederated Municipalities (ACM) intercepted encrypted PRN communications, alerting them to a newly established strategic site, believed to be both a decentralized storage area and a mutation research facility. Recognizing the dual threat, the ACM has authorized the deployment of a special operations task force, with orders to neutralize the facility, and either secure or destroy all data connected to the project.
The clock is ticking. If the PRN discovers new virus mutations immune to the vaccine, the balance of power may tip irreversibly in their favor.
